Locally, there were an increasing number of struggling families who are in desperate need this Christmas. Families have fallen on hard times and are often living in extreme poverty in hostels, shelters and B&Bs.
Some of these parents have had to escape domestic violence and are living in refuges with their children and have no access to funds to buy Christmas presents.
Natalie Styles-Hudson contacted us to apply for a grant to help provide presents for the children described above, and food hampers for their families.
The trustees of The Kingfisher Funerals Community Charity were so impressed by Natalie’s dedication and application that we unanimously decided to make a grant 2.5 times bigger than Natalie requested.
The grant was used to buy presents and food. The presents were wrapped, and the food made into hampers by volunteers, and these were handed out to families in need in the run-up to Christmas.
We were delighted to support this appeal, and thank Natalie and all her helpers for making this happen.
