On 30th August 2019 we were delighted to award our first grant since we established as a charity in the local area. The trustees awarded a grant of £1,000 to the Cambridgeshire Royals Junior Paddlers from St Neots, representing the GB Under 18s Dragonboat Team, to be used towards their flights to Thailand to compete in the IDBF World Nations Dragon Boat Racing Championships.
Lewis Newark (17), Thomas Evans (17), Ellie Mobbs (16) and George Armiger (17) represented their country in the championships, and battled it out as one of 30 countries, 4,000 athletes and 6 continents taking part.
The team won two bronze medals in the championships, and broke all GB records in the 2000m, 500m and 200m races.
We are immensely proud to support such a fantastic achievement, and offer our congratulations to the team for putting in so much hard work in the run-up to the championships, which clearly paid off.
